How to Paint and Restore a Freestanding Garage for a Fresh New Look

Got a garage that’s seen better days? Don’t underestimate what a little paint and elbow grease can do to transform a tired, weathered exterior into something crisp, clean, and refreshed. We recently gave our freestanding garage a much-needed facelift, and the results speak for themselves! Here’s how we did it—and some tips to help you along the way.

Step 1: Assess & Prep

Before you even pick up a paintbrush, take time to really assess the condition of your garage. Look for:

Prep Work Is Key

Then, we scraped off old paint and lightly sanded any rough spots to help the new paint adhere better. This is also the time to replace or repair any damaged trim or siding.
