The dining room. Some people call it the heart of the home – I call it the place where we eat hurried meals, and sip coffee on the weekends while gearing up for never-ending DIY projects. However, it is the central room in the house, so whether or not I spend time sitting here, I definitely see it from almost every spot in my house. It needs to be cute.

The dining room walls and ceiling) are painted Greek Villa by Sherwin Williams (flat). The trim is painted my favorite color – Accessible Beige by Sherwin Williams (satin). We had both paints color matched by Behr.
The main piece in a dining room is, obviously, the table. We put it on an oval jute rug, and instead of doing four matching chairs, we chose to put two black chairs with arms, and two black bistro chairs (similar). I finished it off with a vase (similar) and some greenery – every room needs something organic.
We get a lot of questions about our picture frames – it’s difficult to find really large frames, and these are enormous – 34″ x 34″ and fit 12″x12″ prints. They’re high quality, and easy to switch photos out as your family grows, your style evolves, or you fall in love with new art.
One of the best ways to get art is to buy vintage prints. They’re easy to either order pre-printed, or you can just buy the digital download and print on your own. Here are some of my favorite prints that are in landscape orientation, and prints that are in portrait orientation.
I obsessed over this chandelier until I bought it – it’s worth every single penny. The brass color is the perfect way to balance out the black of the picture frames and the black chairs.
We have a full-length mirror in here (mirrors aren’t just for bedrooms and bathrooms, guys). A cushioned bench grounds the huge photo frame wall. We continued our favorite roller shades and curtains from the living room – more curtain details are listed here.
That’s it for the dining room sources! This room is our path from the kitchen to the living room, so we like to keep it pretty simple. Okay, yes, there is often a messy pile of Amazon boxes in the corner, okay? No one is perfect.
